Discovering Jesus Part 3: Don’t Hurry Jesus

Waiting is hard.

Discussion Questions

Start Talking

  • Share a time when waiting felt especially hard for you—even for something small.
  • Are you the kind of person who likes to be early, right on time, or always running late?
    • How does that shape how you handle delays?
  • Have you ever felt like Jesus was “delayed” in answering your prayer?
    • How did you respond?

Read This

  • Read Mark 5:21-43
    • In what ways do Jairus and the bleeding woman represent different kinds of desperation?
    • Why do you think Jesus paused to speak with the woman even though Jairus’ daughter was dying?
    • How do you think Jairus felt when Jesus stopped?
    • What would you have felt in his place?
    • Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” What might that look like in your life right now?
    • Do you relate more to Jairus or the bleeding woman in this season of your life?
      • Why?

What Now

  • The sermon said: “God’s delays are often His most loving interventions.” What might that mean in practical terms?
  • Can you think of a time when God didn’t answer your prayer on your timeline—but later you saw the purpose in the delay?
  • What does it mean that “Jesus will not be hurried, even by your crisis”?
    • How does that challenge or comfort you?
  • What spiritual practices help you trust God when you don’t understand His timing?
  • What might Jesus be doing in you during a delay, rather than just doing something for you?
  • What step of faith could you take this week, even if you’re still waiting on God?
  • For moms in the group (or those who support moms), what’s something you're waiting on with your children or family?
  • How can we support each other while we live in that space between desperation and resurrection?
  • The woman reached out in faith—even without an invitation. What’s one area of your life where you need to reach out to Jesus today?
  • What do you think Jesus might be saying to you through this story?

God’s grace never works on our timeline. But it’s always worth the wait.
